Program Description

Chemistry is the central science. It’s the application of physics, the why of biology, and the what of engineering. It is crucial to have a strong understanding of chemistry to pursue a degree in any of the major sciences. Chemistry will allow us to solve the worlds energy crisis, cure diseases, and improve the quality of living across the globe. If you are interested in tackling the world’s toughest problems and making huge advances that will transform the world, this is the subject for you.

Program Outcomes

A student who completes an associate degree in Chemistry will be able to do the following.

• Students will be able to solve scientific problems involving unit conversions related to chemical reactions.
• Students will be able to design scientific experiments that utilize all aspects of experimental design.
• As a department, we will foster an environment where students will be exposed to real-world chemistry experiences through internships, guest speakers, scholarship opportunities and/or research opportunities.
• Students will have a broad knowledge of chemistry concepts and problem-solving skill

To earn an AS in Chemistry at Snow College, students must complete 60 credits, including the general education requirements and the following major requirements.
