Program Description
Biology is the science of life. It helps us understand how living organisms function, evolve, and interact with their environment. A strong foundation in biology is essential for careers in medicine, biotechnology, environmental science, and many other fields. Biology holds the key to solving global challenges—curing diseases, protecting ecosystems, and improving human health. If you're passionate about exploring the complexities of life and making discoveries that can change the world, this is the subject for you.
Program Outcomes
Students who complete an associate degree in Biology should expect the following outcomes from the program:
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts of biology: a. Evolution b. Pathways and transformations of energy and matter c. Information flow, exchange, and storage d. Structure and function e. Systems
- Students will be able to demonstrate the processes of science.
- Demonstrate quantitative competency and a basic ability to understand and interpret data as applied to biology.
- Describe how biology has shaped and been shaped by historical, ethical, and social contexts.
- Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate scientific information in clear language and collaborate with other students and faculty in the classroom.
