Program Description
Snow College’s cultural geography program introduces students to the political units, current issues, and basic economic, social, and cultural structures of the various world regions. This program raises students’ awareness of global issues and encourages lifelong engagement in world affairs. Students will have the opportunity to research countries of particular interest to them and reflect on their personal place within the global population.
Program Outcomes
A student who completes an associate degree in Geography will be able to do the following.
- students will be able to identify and correctly label all the nations of the world.
- students will be able to analyze the most pressing issues in modern global affairs.
- students will be able to describe and compare social, political, economic, cultural, geographical, and historical settings across the world.
- students will be able to conduct social science research using a variety of sources.
- students will be able to recognize differences between the developed world and less developed areas of the globe and identify their own places within this framework.
