Program Description

This certificate addresses the critical shortage of mental health support professionals and juvenile justice workers in rural Utah. Additionally, this program addresses the lack of resources and leadership training opportunities for school counselors, social workers, and psychologists. This program provides hands-on training, industry-aligned coursework, and internship opportunities to prepare students for immediate employment or further education. Designed for both traditional and non-traditional students, this program creates a direct pathway into behavioral health careers and strengthens Utah’s mental health workforce.  

Program Outcomes

  • demonstrate understanding of psychological concepts, experiential therapies, and holistic wellness to support behavioral health practice\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n
  • design and apply experiential, recreational, and evidence-based interventions to meet therapeutic goals for individuals and groups
  • utilize and teach evidence-based strategies to enhance resilience, well-being, and life satisfaction in themselves and others
  • apply ethical principles, professional standards, and appropriate decision-making in diverse behavioral health settings
  • evaluate personal values and biases, and use reflective practices to support professional growth and effective client care
